ERIK PENNY: Here's a spontaneous video for "Side of the Road", my new single (released on July 24th). The crowd on the Admiralsbrücke in Kreuzberg is so interesting and colorful that i decided they should star in the video, so i taped a video camera to my guitar and played the song for everyone, filming the whole video in one shot! I hope you like it :)

Emma, hearing about gap2go, recounts a Milos Forman lecture, where he talks about himself at the late 60s, wanting to do a documentary of the Hippies. So he came to the US, realizing that what is chracteristic about Hippies is, they are quite uninteresting to film, they only hang around. A tiresome subject for a camera. So he had the idea of installing a story and also, to make a big call for a singer-songwriter contest for young women. The call was extremely successful, many young women appeared, and he would film it all (including the at the time completely unknown Carly Simon and Kathy Bates). So ended up having a very nice film: Taking Off (1971)

gap2go a project to spot a location and the way people make use of it. a project to create a time-image 2010, a portrait of these people, that are using kreuzberg-neukölln as a tool to ... to -- what? maybe: to undo effort, or: to suspend the rule of money, to forget life's destinations, to pastiche revolution, to ... ein projekt über leute die in berlin wohnen + über solche, die berlin benutzen, um >darauf< mal eine gewisse zeit >auszusteigen<, vielleicht ein gap-year machen oder einfach dort abhängen, die ohne geld oder andere ziele zeit verbringen		fotos: shari
