Film Synopsis: Prisoner of love is a fictitious documentary which refers to Jean Genet’s book of the same title. Jean Genet joined the Palestinian movement in the 1980s. His text marks a very specific moment in the history of left European political engagement in the so called third world. The Film follows this track and combines it with ideas from Orientalism by Edward Said and the queer self mirroring of the Artist Claude Cahun. On the traces of Jean Genet in the Middle East the film develops a little drama in the postcolonial world.
